The beginner package is exactly that. For beginners! The fourteen-hour course touches briefly on every facet of the game and includes a 9-hole on-course lesson. It provides each player just enough skill to understand a little about how wonderful this game is. I believe this is an investment in a person’s future. Golf will enhance an individual’s growth as the game tests many aspects of personal character.

Golf also enables people the ability to entertain clients and customers in a perfect setting. It also has a wonderful way of opening doors in a networking sense and will enrich each and every person who is willing to begin to play this extraordinary game.

Please note that all lessons include equipment. I recommend wearing clothing that is easy to swing in, and running shoes are appropriate unless you have golf shoes.

• Lesson 1: Fundamentals, concepts, range safety and half swing.

• Lesson 2: Fundamentals and 3/4 swing.

• Lesson 3: Building a full swing.

• Lesson 4: Utility Clubs / Fairway woods.

• Lesson 5: Putting. Technique and distance control vs accuracy.

• Lesson 6: Rules and etiquette. Understanding Golf terminologies, the scorecard, dress regulations and how golf in Japan differs from the rest of the world.

• Lesson 7: Mastering the Driver. Its importance and the debate between distance and accuracy.

• Lesson 8: In golf each player is allowed to carry 14 clubs. Understanding the role of each club and distances that are expected. We also talk a little about purchasing golf clubs and make sure players have a grasp of buying cheap vs expensive golf clubs.

• Lesson 9: Playing golf from uneven lies (sloping ground) is something many golfers struggle with. To comprehend the technique and concept is vital to playing to your potential.

• Lesson 10: The last lesson on the range. We touch on each and every aspect learnt from the previous lessons. It can also be an opportunity to work on whatever aspect of the game the player is struggling with before we go to the course.

Owned by Taiheiyo Club this driving range sits on the top floor of Omori Station and Rara shopping centre. It is 2 stops away from Shinagawa station.

On course schedule (can change slightly depending on the time of the year):

• 9.45 am: Meet at Taiheiyo Yachiyo – Registration and check-in.

• 10 am – 12 pm:

  • Putting. Technique. Speed vs Line. Etiquette.

  • Chipping vs Pitching. The correct choice.

  • Bunker play (sand). Understanding Technique.

• 12 pm - 1 pm: Lunch

• 1 pm - 4 pm: 9 holes on the course lesson. Understanding speed of play, rules, etiquette, safety, and trouble shots.
